**The Story Behind SmackYaSoulFoodNYC**

Cooking has always been a part of who I am. Ever since I was 9 years old, I found joy in being in the kitchen, not because I had to—but because I loved to. What started as cooking for fun quickly turned into something deeper. I was feeding my family, experimenting with flavors, and building a passion that would eventually shape my future.

A few years later, I took that passion to the next level by enrolling in a culinary program called Wildcat Café. I spent about two years there, sharpening my skills and working toward my licenses. It was a major step forward for me—but like so many things, the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. The program shut down, and suddenly, I was left trying to figure out my next move.

For about two years, I searched for direction. Then one unexpected phone call changed everything. I was offered a job at an Indian cuisine restaurant in Manhattan. I took the opportunity and stayed there for almost three years. During that time, I learned more than I ever expected—not just about cooking, but about running a business. I learned how to manage a restaurant, handle employees, and keep up with the pressure of fast-paced service during rush hours.

But not everything about that experience was positive. I was disrespected, taken advantage of, and put in situations where I wasn’t treated the way I deserved. After being cursed at and manipulated one too many times, I made a decision: I walked away and never looked back.

That moment became a turning point.

I started thinking—if I could help run someone else’s business, why couldn’t I build my own? People had been telling me for a long time that I should start something centered around my cooking, especially soul food. I kept hearing it, and eventually, I believed it.

That’s when *SmackYaSoulFoodNYC* was born.

On October 1st, 2025, I officially launched my business from my home in The Bronx,NY . In the beginning, I was creating THC-infused soul food, bringing a unique twist to classic comfort dishes. Over time, I expanded to offer both infused and regular options, making my food accessible to more people while still keeping my creativity alive.

To grow my business, I turned to social media—mainly TikTok and Instagram. TikTok has been a huge success for me, with multiple videos going viral and bringing in new customers. Instagram, on the other hand, has been a challenge. My page has been taken down three different times for no clear reason, even though it was one of my main sources for gaining customers. It’s been frustrating, but it hasn’t stopped me.

Because at the end of the day, this is bigger than an app.

This is my passion. My story. My grind.

And no matter what obstacles come my way, I’m going to keep pushing forward, finding new ways to grow, connect, and feed people food that really hits the soul.
